Dr. Molly Answers Your Questions About False Teeth
My boyfriend has a lot of reconstruction on ALL of his teeth. Now they are falling apart…he is getting discouraged and is talking about getting false teeth. I know its hard to keep getting them fixed and expensive…but do you have any advice for him? He is only 38 and I’d hate to see him pull them if he can keep them. I love his smile, even with the reconstruction. Thank you for your question. This is a common problem. It is so easy to get discouraged. And false teeth seem like an easier solution. It sounds like your boyfriend really wants his teeth to look great and avoid dentures or he would not have invested the time and money initially to get them reconstructed. When things start breaking down, we always want to look at why. Usually once we figure that out, we can help prevent the existing restorations from falling apart and avoid false teeth. The trick is in figuring out the “why.” There are so many things that can contribute to this. And you can have one thing or many things going on. I would encourage him to come in so we could take a look. Initial consultation appointments are always free of charge. Then we could help him figure out what is going on and help him keep that beautiful smile you love so much.
