The neighborhood was named after Judge Athelstan Bisset, who was a lawyer and a politician in Alberta. Bisset was developed mostly in the 1980s, with a mix of single-family homes, apartments, row houses, and duplexes. Bisset has two schools, two churches, and a community league. It is bounded by 34 Avenue, 23 Avenue, 34 Street, and Mill Woods Road East.
