Are You Scared of the Dentist?
Have ever felt like this?
I am so afraid of the dentist and because of this, my mouth is a real mess. I would love to be asleep, just to have my teeth cleaned. I have open sores in my mouth and 4 of my teeth just fell out. Is there a product that can help me???
You are not alone! This is a real question that we received from someone that was looking for a dentist. Here is what Dr. Molly Rodgers, Edmonton dentist had to say:
Edmonton Dentist”I wish there was some magic potion we could give you to restore your oral health. It sounds like you have some serious issues going on in your mouth.
And YES there are some amazing products that can help – it all depends on what is causing your problems and which ones you are hoping to address. But unfortunately you have to go to the dentist first– not the drug store – to assess which products will help you the most.
The best thing that I can recommend is that you find a dentist that you can trust, one that you are comfortable sharing your concerns with and preferably one that does dentistry under sedation. He or she will help to guide you to the products that can help you the most. And then, at whatever pace you feel comfortable with, I would recommend you start to deal with the issues you are having with your smile. If you leave some of these types of concerns they can result in very serious infections.I know this is not the answer you were hoping for – just like I wish that eating less and exercising more weren’t the only solution to losing weight – really – why can’t chocolate be healthy? But here is the “Rub” so to speak. It isn’t just about your teeth any more. Recent studies are now linking gum disease to a host of other more serious medical problems including diabetes, heart disease, stroke and premature births/low birth weight babies. Also, the failure to seek routine dental care can result in missed opportunities to diagnose oral cancer in its earliest – and most treatable – stages. A dentist can often spot oral cancer before the patient even knows it exists. So please – seek out dental care – really we dentists are much nicer than we get credit for!” — Dr. Molly Rodgers, Edmonton Dentist
