This Guest Post by Dr. Molly Rodgers originally appeared on Urban Infant. You actually should start “brushing” your baby’s gums very early on, in their first few months. Using a soft face cloth and your finger you gently massage their gums.  This will help establish a healthy oral environment for when the baby teeth start erupting. This also helps them to get used to you brushing their teeth. Once they start getting their baby teeth, continue with this technique twice a day. Do not use tooth paste at this time. At about age one you can start introducing a small toothbrush to the routine. Click here for the rest of Dr. Molly’s tips on how to care for your children’s teeth.
