History of Satoo

Satoo is a neighborhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, that belongs to the Mill Woods community of Knottwood. It was named after Satoo, a Cree chief who lived in the area when it was part of the Papachase Indian reserve from 1876 to 1891. The reserve was dissolved by the federal government and the land was sold to settlers. Satoo is bounded by 23 Avenue, Anthony Henday Drive, 91 Street, and 80 Street, and Mill Woods Road West. It was mostly developed in the 1970s and has a mix of single-family homes, duplexes, and row houses. It has two public schools: Dan Knott Junior High School and Satoo Elementary School.
