Ellerslie is a neighborhood in southeast Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. While City of Edmonton documents mention various stories about Scottish settlers introducing the name Ellerslie, it is known that the name was applied to the local school district by 1895, and to the local post office in 1896, when it was still a rural area many kilometers south of the newly (1892) incorporated Town of Edmonton. History of Ellerslie

Ellerslie is a residential community located in the southeast part of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The community is named after the Ellerslie School, which was built in the area in the late 19th century. The history of Ellerslie dates back to the early 20th century when the first settlers arrived in the area. Ellerslie was primarily a farming community, with crops such as wheat and oats being grown in the fertile soil. The arrival of the Canadian National Railway in 1905 brought new opportunities for trade and commerce, and Ellerslie began to develop as a small commercial center.

In the 1950s and 1960s, the area started to see residential development, with the construction of single-family homes and townhouses. This trend continued into the 21st century, with the expansion of Ellerslie's residential areas and the addition of new amenities and services. One of the key developments in Ellerslie's recent history has been the construction of the Anthony Henday Drive ring road, which runs along the community's northern border.
