History of Ekota

Ekota is a neighborhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is located in Knottwood, in Mill Woods. The name Ekota comes from the Cree language and means ‘special place.’ Ekota is surrounded by 23 Avenue on the north, 66 Street on the east, and Mill Woods Road South on the south and west. According to the 2012 municipal census, Ekota had a population of 2,560 people living in 947 dwellings. The neighborhood is ethnically diverse, with many residents reporting multiple ethnic origins. Ekota has two schools: Ekota Elementary School and St. Clement Catholic School.
