Question “Please tell me how much the stop snoring appliance is??”

I received an email about the cost of getting an Oral Appliance for snoring. This is such a common question. There are an estimated 20 Million people in North America with undiagnosed Sleep Apnea. I think that is why there is always a circle of cars around Tim Horton’s and Starbucks every morning — no one is sleeping well. When we have a patient in that says they snore, our first concern always is do they also have Sleep Apnea. (A quick Google search can provide details on what Sleep Apnea is if you are unfamiliar with this serious condition.) The key things to know about Sleep Apnea are:

So our first step is to send this patient for a Level 3 Sleep Test. Great news – this is a simple test that is done in your OWN bed and in most cases is done free of charge. If this test comes back positive for Sleep Apnea, we always have the patient try a CPAP machine first. This trial is also free. We will only recommend an Oral Appliance if the patient can’t tolerate the CPAP or if they only snore (and test negative for Sleep Apnea) and just drive their spouse crazy:D For the price of that Starbucks or two Timmies double doubles you need every day for a year to keep yourself awake, you could have 365 nights of restful sleep.
